Counselors in Training (CIT) General Information

Are you eager to get a head start learning valuable life and professional skills? Then the J-Camp CIT program is for you!

The J-Camp CIT program gives you the guidance and tools required to be a strong counselor and an even greater future leader. As a CIT you will gain valuable leadership experience and skills through hands-on activities and events.

You will become role models for J-Camp campers as you learn to lead games, arts and crafts, songs, stories and more. You will learn skills for effective leadership, group management, child development basics, and policies and procedures in relation to working with youth.

You will be able to use your experience as a CIT to solve problems using critical thinking, communication, teamwork, patience and respect. CITs will leave the program with a new sense of confidence in themselves and their ability to tackle challenges head on. Along the way you will form new bonds and make lasting friendships, working with J-Camp's diverse community.

Interacting with campers and representing J-Camp requires a certain level of maturity. For this reason, the Fieldwork program is selective. Upon completion of the CIT Training Course, teens will be invited to participate in the Fieldwork program.

Please Note: In order to be eligible to apply for the Junior Counselor positions in J-Camp, completion of CIT Training and 105 or more hours of Fieldwork is required.
